Stove

When boiling water in a pan, always use a cover.

Select the right-sized pan for the right burner. Use a small pan on a small burner.

Keep stovetop burners and reflectors clean to reflect the heat better and save energy.

Cooking with natural gas is cheaper than cooking with electricity, if you have the choice. If you're using electricity, however, get in the habit of turning off the burners several minutes before the allotted cooking time. The heating element will stay hot long enough to finish the cooking without using more electricity. This works with the oven cooking, too.

Bake several items at the same time when using your oven. Preheat for only five minutes, and turn off the oven 10 minutes ahead of time.
