Showerheads and Bathtubs

Conserve hot water by installing water-saving showerheads. As much as 26 percent of the energy used in the home is for heating water and a $15 low-flow showerhead can save $10 a year.

Consider using a showerhead with a shut-off valve, allowing you turn off water while you lather up.

Close the drain in the tub before turning on hot water -- the temperature can be adjusted as the tub fills.
